About tee, hunting weapons or ruler of the forest.

There are such traditional fowls like wild boar and roe deer, but also an exotic for our region pheasant in our hunting farm. The presence of the pheasant suggests the idea “why not to try a tee?”. This hunting weapon is most common in European lands because of its versatility and the opportunity to meet a partridge and wild boar when you walking through the woods. In addition, if add the specifics of forest hunting when shot at distances over 150 meters is a rarity, and accuracy of sub moa is not required.
Fairly common set of tee`s calibers are 9,3Х74R for the first barrel, old but good 30-06 for second one and, accordingly, a smooth 20-gauge (16th and 12th are rare for a system with two rifled barrels ).
If you still focused on hunting for birds, you should look towards the classic Drilling with two smooth barrels and standard modified choke(or interchangeable, such as in a series of Optima firm Krieghoff). 12th are not uncommon, it is a standard, though, and 20th is enough for uses in the forest, plus incentive to improve their hunting skills, for it is certainly more demanding to “flatness” hands of arrow .
The company Blaser provided an interesting solution, they almost hung out freely one rifled barrel over the other two (there are a rubber spacer and connecting element, but representatives of the company are assured that it doesn’t affect the accuracy). This made it possible for arrow to use rifled barrel of small caliber, for example, 222 Rem (but not 223 Rem!) or 22 Hornet on game birds: from capercaillie to pheasant, because accuracy averaged previously is about 1 MOA ( it is about small caliber and a group of 3 shots). D99 – pretty reasonable price for a tee and a number of interesting decisions, in particular, receiver of light alloys without loss of reliability, the device “kick-stop”, decreasing returns plus good opportunities customizing.

About reduction of tee`s barrels. If we talk about weapons of higher analysis, such as Kierghoff or Merkel, the problem of getting from all three trunks at one point solved traditional German way: a careful master`s approach to his work and, of course, custom production and shooting each tees. In Blaser, given non-German designer, chose a different path: kept only the lower trunk and upper amenable to adjustment.
Of course, any tee of self-respecting company, or even Soviet implies supplementary barrel for a small caliber, the same 22LR, but without guarantees special grouping or a large caliber.
Tees of African calibers are a separate category , however, it is exotic and the purchase of such weapons for hunting in Ukraine has no reasonable explanation. Because, strictly speaking for the majority of Ukrainian hunts do not need anything bigger than “nine” calibers and in most cases the usual caliber is 308 WIN.
Tee for tourists and hunting in the wild is very interesting, if the nearest village about 200 km away, forest is rich in game, and you do not want to carry two guns. But that’s another story.
